Simplifying Discipline Step 2

As parents we often feel overwhelmed. There is just so much going on. Alot of us work inside and outside the home we have more than just 1 child who wants our constant attention and we often have wonderfull husbands who just love to share all the parenting duties with us (ok that part was a joke:) To continue on with the Parenting is Heart Work segment we are working on, Step two is vital in the process. First lets review step 1. Step 1 for the parent is to Get Close To Your Child. When giving instructions to your child if you simply yell to them from the computer (which I myself am guilty of) or yell them throught the house you are not getting to your child. You are simply yelling into empty air space and this is creating a tension for both you and your child. You are tense and upset that they did not follow your instruction and your child is upset because the standards were not set clearly enough by us the parent.
Step 1 for your child is to Learn To Come When Called. Your child must learn that when you call for him he must come to you so you are able to deliver the instruction.
Now to move on to Step 2: For the parent we need to Consider The timing. Observe what is going on in your home. Are you and your husband fighting and you simply yell to your child to do something? Are you angry with something that has absolutely nothing to do with your child? Is your child in depth with another activity that any instruction at this time may not really get through? Step back take a breath and observe your current situation. Take 5 minutes and breathe.
Step 2 For your child is to come ready to receive instruction. After you have take your breathes and are ready to give instruction call for your child. If need be give them a 3 minute warning in order to transition from activity to instruction. When your child comes to you , you need to be ready to give instruction and he needs to be ready to receive instruction. Parenting is a two way street. You both must be willing to work together to make life easier! Find out what works best for you and your child. It does not matter how you work the ateps as long as you work them and in order. I am only speaking from experience! Mamma of 9 here Im out!

Parenting is Heart Work..........

Now that I have given you a brief overview of Simplifying discipline, we will now break down the steps. Each step has a step for the parent and a step for the child. I have decided to use Parenting is Heart Work as my guide. We live in a age where children yell alot. And parents yell alot this creates alot of uneccesary tension, stress and yelling in ones home. Very difficult for us to handle in a world where we have so many outside stressors. I am looking for 3 test families who will follow this program with me and guest blog about your experiences. The First step is for parents to: Get Close to your child do not scream for them through out the house. Do not waste your time yelling directions throughout the house. Believe me when you do thi the only thing listening is the walls. Go find your child get close and deliver the instruction. The first step for a child is to come when called. Using a even tone simply call for your child, do not allow for them to scream back Ask them to come to you so that you may deliver the instruction directly to your child. Try it let me know how it goes......Simplify your life!

Simplifying Discipline

Ok so this is a big one in our house lol. Why does she get this ,how come he got that, you didnt yell at him, oh shes your favorite lol. So Starting my journey on this Simple Life means I have to find a simple way to discipline my children. Now the easy answer to this is beat them, ya I know. That would be EASY but I want SIMPLE. So now we go by the Action/Reaction chart. Your Action brings about my Reaction. Ok so instead of me reacting now the chart does lol. Simple for me. You hit, the chart says 30 minutes in your room. You lie, the chart says 1 hr in your room. Yu "forget "your chore, the chart says you do everybodys chore. Mama says alot less. In fact the only the I say is "Did you read the chart" It is working very well in my house. And I will continue to use it every day. Mama's less stressed, therefore family is happier. Now thats simple living!

Welcome All

This is a journey for those who wish to simplify their life. In todays world we run and run and run. Quite often we forget to slow down and take a look around us. We automatically assume that just because its fast and to the point its simple. Well from observations I have made, it's not. Fast and easy are hardley simple, its actually quite complicated. I invite you to join me on my journey to living the simple life. No im not going fanatical. But I am willing to share tips I have learned and share experiences I am going through. I am the mom to 9 very different children. I will share how I have learned to simplify relationships(always hard), simplify discipline, simplify wardrobes.... all of it. I am still learning each day and no its not easy. Please join me on my Journey...............
